Breadwinners Sandwiches

Some places feel built around trends. Breadwinners feels built around personality.

Part neighbourhood sandwich shop, part local hangout, Breadwinners sits just back from Kingscliff beach and has built something with its own identity. Warm timber interiors, olive green booths, boutique wines, local beers and MF DOOM through the speakers make it feel like the type of place people come for a sandwich and end up staying longer.

The menu stays intentionally small, but that seems to be the point. Weekly sandwich specials often lean into more left field ideas, with combinations and themes you wouldn’t expect, yet somehow they pull it off. That creativity keeps people coming back, alongside favourites like the Mont Blanc cold foam and newer additions including breakfast burritos.

There’s care behind everything. From the way sandwiches are wrapped to the rotating specials and drinks selection, nothing feels rushed. The focus seems simple: do fewer things, but do them well.

For this shoot, the focus wasn’t only on the food, but the atmosphere around it. Paper bags waiting on tables, beers being poured, warm interiors and the smaller details that give local places their character.

The goal was to create imagery that reflected not only what Breadwinners serves, but what it feels like to spend time there.

A mix of digital and 35mm film photography was used throughout the shoot, with the softness and grain of film feeling naturally suited to the warmth and nostalgia already built into the space.
