Bar Evelyn serves up bold Italian-American inspired dishes, drawing influence from the classic restaurants of New York through to California. Sitting right in the heart of Coolangatta, just across from the ocean, it’s quickly become a local favourite and once you’re inside it’s easy to see why.

The fit out started as a rough sketch and was brought to life by designer Adrian Henderson, blending warm timber with thoughtful details throughout the space. One of the best parts of the venue is the collection of vintage plates, gathered from towns across Victoria through to Queensland, each one with its own story.

For this shoot I wanted to capture both the atmosphere of the space and the food itself. A mix of film and digital photography helped bring out the texture of the interiors while keeping the dishes looking clean and editorial.
